Panaji, Mar 4 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane will present a people-friendly four-month vote-on-account budget on March 7 in the state Legislative Assembly Session beginning tomorrow.

The five-day budget session is said to be the last with the term of the House expiring in May this year.

The new government, to be formed after the elections of the State Assembly expected to be held by May, has to present the full budget.

The budget session from tomorrow is likely to witness noisy scenes on various issues when respective parties try to project their image in view of the coming elections.

Apart from routine business, the House may undertake a few bills including the new regional plan replacing the scrapped controversial plan.

The Congress has, in the 40-member House, a strength of 18 backed by NCP 2 and independent and MGP one each.

The BJP has 15 members backed by the lone UGDP member Mathanhy Saldanha who was stripped of his right to vote and participate in debates on a high court directive following his disqualification by the speaker.

While one BJP MLA Babu Azgaonkar quit to become a minister in Rane government, two others were disqualified for contesting the polls in 2002 while occupying offices of profit.
