Congress joins hands with three parties to fight upcoming polls

Thane, Mar 4 (UNI) The Congress has joined hands with the Shramajivi Sanghatana, Agri Sena, and the Kumbi Sena to fight the March 11 Zilla Parishad and Panchayat elections.

Congress in-charge of Thane district, Chandrakant Handore told mediapersons today there would be a triangular fight between the Congress and like-minded parties, NCP, its allies and the Sena-BJP combine.

Elaborating on the seat-sharing between parties for the ensuing Zilla Parishad polls, Handore said ''Congress would have (49), SJS (8), KS (7), AS (1) and friendly fight (1). In Panchayat elections the seat-sharing was Cong (101), SJS(12), KS(12), AS (1), MNNS (2), RPI (1) and friendly fight (1).'' He said that it would be a triangular fight in the entire district between the Congress and like minded parties, NCP and its allies and the BJP-Sena combine.

He was confident that the Congress and like-minded parties, which were contesting the elections would surely return to power as the other parties had always ignore the district. He said Congress would support CPM party in Talasari, where it had a strong-hold.

The Bahujan Agadhi front had been formed to fight NCP and allied parties and Sena-BJP in the upcoming elections.

Congress leader R C Patil, District Congress President and MP Damoo Shingada, City Unit President Bal Purnekar, Shramajivi Sangatana President VIvek Pandit, Kunbi Sena president Vishwanth Patil, and Agri Sena Vice President were present at the media briefing.
