K'taka Labour Dept to celebrate Nat Safety Day
Bangalore, Mar 3: Karnataka Labour Department has chalked out various programmes at important industrial centres across the state to celebrate National Safety Day.
Disclosing this to newsmen here Labour Minister Iqbal Ansari said the programme would commence at Torangallu in Bellary District tomorrow which, among others included, safety walk, flag hoisting and awards distribution for maintenance of safety standards in various categories of industries.
He said a display of safety equipment used in industries, construction sites and mining would also be organised as part of the programme, he added. Over 1000 workers in small industrial units in Belgaum and Mysore districts would be covered under free medical check up camps which included free distribution of medicines, he added.
Answering a question he said there were over 10730 registered industries and 2799 registered boilers employing over 11 lakh people. Of these 1028 were categorised as dangerous and 73 most dangerous, he added.
