CCB seizes pirated VCDs, DVDs, arrests seven

Chennai, Mar 3 (UNI) Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials seized pirated VCDs and DVDs of several Tamil movies worth Rs 28 lakh and arrested seven people.

CCB Assistant Commissioner Dharmaraj told reporters here today that acting on a tip off, four special teams conducted raids at Burma Bazaar and Vadapalani areas and seized 5500 VCDs and DVDs of Tamil movies including latest films like 'Paruthi Veeran', 'Deepavali' and 'Veyil'.

The team also confiscated DVD recording machines and arrested seven people for selling pirated VCDs.

The arrested persons would be produced before a Metropolitan Magistrate Court for judicial remand.

The drive by the CCB officials comes close on the heels of a complaint lodged by Actor Sivakumar's son Karthik, stating that pirated VCDs and DVDs of his new film ''Paruthiveeran'' were being sold in various parts of the city.
