AP Minister assures enquiry into assault on journalist
Hyderabad, Mar 3 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy today assured a delegation of working journalists and representatives of the electronic media that he would order an enquiry by an officer of the rank of DIG of police into alleged attack on the representative of local TV channel.
Representatives of Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists Union (APUWJ) and AP Electronic Media Journalists Association (APEMJA) today took out a rally protesting against the alleged attack on a mediaperson.
The journalists complained to the Home Minister that attacks on the media were increasing across the state and urged him to curb them.
They alleged that Chandrakant, representative of a local TV channel, was brutally beaten up when he went to the college to cover the visit of the representatives of Medical Council of India to the college to examine the facilities available there.
They also told the Minister that the Camera of the victim was damaged and he was locked up in a dark room. The journalists demanded the arrest of the college authorities.
The delegation was led by APUWJ President K Amaranath and APEMJA President Chandu Janardhan.
