Women urge Puducherry CM to rescue their sons from Kuwait

Puducherry, Mar 2 (UNI) The intervention of the territorial administration was sought by three women here to ensure the rescue of their sons, who were allegedly being tortured in Kuwait.

Talking to newspersons here, they said the Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy was urged to ensure that the boys are rescued.

The Chief Minister assured them to redress their grievances, as he had already written a letter to the Union Government, based on a complaint received by his office in this regard, they added.

Earlier, in a memorandum submited to Mr Rangasamy yesterday, the women -- Dhanalakshmi and S Padmavathy from Jeevanandapuram and K Padmavathy of Kottakuppam, said at the time of recruiting their sons for work in Kuwait, they were promised a salary of Rs 12,000, eight hours work and only grill.

However, at Kuwait, they were locked up in a cattle shed like accommodation and there was no specific duty time and the boys were forced to work continuously without any rest, they added.

They alleged that their children informed them that they were being beaten up, if the authorities found them taking rest.

The boys had escaped from the company and informed the matter to the Indian Embassy, they said. Since they they did not get a proper rsponse from the Embassy, they have no other alternative but to hide in their friends room there, they alleged.
