Whale shark rescued and released into Arabian Sea

Rajkot, Mar 2 (UNI) Officials from forest and fisheries department here rescued and released a 35 feet long whale shark weighing about six tonne, that got entangled in a fishing net off Veraval coast in Junagadh district, into the Arabian Sea.

The whale shark was entangled in the nets of fisherman Laljibhai Dhanjibhai on Wednesday while fishing in the sea off Veraval coast, sources said.

He immediately informed forest and fisheries department officials who rescued the whale shark by cutting off the nets after a four-hour long exercise and released the sea animal into the Arabian Sea, sources added.
