Top militant commander of Rajouri killed
Jammu, Mar 2 (UNI) "Commander-in-chief" of Hizbul Mujahideen Pir Panjal Regiment (HMPPR) was among two militants gunned down by the security forces in the bordering Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources today said.
HMPPR top leader Mohd Yasin and his associate, identified as Shafaat, were killed by troops of 48 Rashtriya Rifles and the police in an operation at Morha Daraj in Kandi area of Rajouri that ended at midnight, sources told UNI.
Yasin, was involved in the massacre of ten people of a particular community at Dhar Sakri and six at Gabbar Budhal. He was carrying a reward of Rs five lakh on his head.
Yasin's encounter came close on the heels of elimination of two mercenaries, including top militant commander Abu Mavia, at Thanna Mandi last week.
Two AK rifles, three magazines, six grenades, one wireless set and other incriminating documents were recovered from the site of encounter.
