Tiameren terms Union Budget as 'pro-people' in NE
Kohima, Mar 2 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and legislator Tiameren Aier has termed the Union Budget for the year 2007-08 as 'pro-people' and added that it should help develop tourism and road infrastructure in the Northeast.
The Union Budget has laid special emphasis on the North East, especially in terms of tourism, road infrastructure and other developmental programme in the region, and this would help farmers, traders and industrialists, Mr Tiameren said while speaking to newspersons here yesterday.
The BJP leader, however, expressed concern over the possibility of funds being misutilised due to insurgency problem in the area, particularly in Nagaland, which also lacks departmental mechanism.
He said the department concerned should have better understanding of the need of the hour so as to fully utilise the opportunity of such enhancement programme liberally provided by the Centre.
Mr Tiameren appealed to the people to be fully aware of the development programmes offered by the Union Government and avail such opportunity with strict vigil.
