Bangalore, Mar 2 (UNI) In the backdrop of increasing incidents of Cyber Crimes, a three-day National Conference on Cyber Security will be held here from March eight.

Mr Iqbal Ahmed, the Co-Chair, Organising Committee of the Conference, speaking to newspersons here today said that the ITU-APT Foundation, CSI, IEEE, STPI and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeeth would be jointly organising the conference to be attended by eminent cryptologists, cryptanalysts and officials from Ministry of Information and Technology.

He said that with the proliferation of data networks using variety of media satellite, optical fiber, wired media, wireless media, the world had became a global village and the menace of cyber crime had become a global concern.

Earlier, networks were speech centric and based on local connectivity. However it was now transformed as the convergence of voice, data and video in one network, he said.

The Internet has made it easy to obtain information to communicate and control the systems across great distances and because of tremendous productivity gains and new capabilities enabled by these networked IT systems, it had been incorporated into virtually every sector of the nation's critical infrastructure including communications, utilities, finance, transportation, law enforcement, defence, oil, gas, power, nuclear installations, he said.

Because of the revolution in connectivity, privacy of individuals had been threatened. Everyday one could hear cloning in GSM or CDMA networks, Phishing attacks, ATM card fraud, DOS attacks, Viruses, Trojan horses, worms, intruders, web sites being demolished.
