Nadeem's father withdraws petition regarding NBW status
Mumbai, Mar 2 (UNI) Noted music director Nadeem's father today withdrew a petition seeking clarification regarding a non-bailable arrest warrant and a subsequent red corner notice issued against his son in the 1997 Gulshan Kumar murder case.
A division bench comprising, Justice Ranjana Desai and Justice Anoop Mohata, dismissed the petition after the Maharashtra government opposed it on the ground that the petitioner was not liable to be granted any relief as Nadeem of the Nadeem-Shravan duo has never presented himself before the court. Finally, Nadeem's father Yunus Saifee Md Sayeed withdrew the petition.
Yunus Saifee had filed the petition in the High Court seeking clarification whether the NBW and subsequent red corner notice still prevails. It was averred in the petition that the NBW has been lapsed, as it had already been executed in London, prior to the failed extradition proceedings and the red corner notice was always based on such a warrant. It could not sustain after that.
Mumbai Police has booked Nadeem in the Gulshan Kumar, owner of T-Series Cassettes, murder case, which took place on August 12, 1997. The NBW has been issued against Nadeem in the matter after he was declared wanted by the police. Subsequently, the Interpol also issued a red corner notice against the music director in September 1997, which restricted Nadeem's movements to Great Britain.
