Moser Baer kick starts trial run of photovoltaic facility
New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) Moser Baer India Ltd today said its subsidiary Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Ltd (MBPV) has completed final line integration and trials on its initial 40 MW crystalline photovoltaic cell production facility.
The company targets to achieve 80 MW of capacity in the second half of this year. The new facility will provide inherent flexibility to use five and six inch wafers in both mono and multi-crystalline formats, MBPV CEO Ravi Khanna said.
MBPV will rapidly increase deployment of thinner wafers and set industry benchmarks in production efficiencies in line with its strategy to emerge as one of the most efficient manufacturers in the photovoltaic space, he said.
The global photovoltaic market is estimated to clock sales worth 40 billion dollars by 2010, six times bigger than its present size.
MBPV recently tied up with Deutsche Solar, one of the leading global silicon wafer manufacturers, and part of the Germany-based Solar World AG Group for supply of silicon wafers.
