KERC releases 'Harnessing Captive Power Generation' order
Bangalore, Mar 2 (UNI) Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission has come out with an order on 'Harnessing Captive Power Generation' as per a direction of the National Electricity Policy and Tariff Policy of the Union Government.
The salient feature of the order, issued by KERC on February 27, was that it was applicable to all Captive Power Plants in the State, who were willing to supply power of one MW and above to distribution licensees (ESCOMs), according to a release here today.
The order provided for sale of power at rates linked to existing unscheduled interchange rates for Firm and Infirm supplies offered by captive generators. Floor and ceiling rates were separately indicated. Firm supplies beyond three years were to be treated as long term contracts and such purchase shall be through competitive bidding with a ceiling rate of Rs 2.87 per unit.
