IT Commissioner asks tax payers to be prepared for contingencies

Surat, Mar 2 (UNI) Chief Commissioner of Income Tax of Surat division, Karan Singh has said a lot of changes in the tax administration will be introduced in the coming days and asked the tax payers to stay prepared.

Karan Singh was talking on a discussion organised by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), at the Gandhi Smruthi Bhavan here today on the Union budget.

''We have a lot of information at all India level and one cannot predict what will be the outcome of them. So be prepared for any sort of contingencies,'' Mr Singh said.

Mr Singh has said electronic filing of income tax returns which was made compulsory for the corporations would be made compulsory for the individual tax payers also.

According to Mr Singh around 3,00,000 companies have filed their IT returns through the e-fiing system in the last year. The meeting was also attended by SGCCI President Pravin Nanavati, Tax Consultant Mukesh Patel and legal expert Paresh Dave.
