Guj Cong stages protest over suspension of 4 MLAs
Gandhinagar, Mar 2 (UNI) Gujarat Congress today staged a demonstration in front of the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, outside the state assembly precincts, protesting expulsion of four of its MLAs by ruling BJP government from the Assembly for the entire Budget Session on February 23.
The suspended MLAs --Dinesh Parmar, Paresh Dhanani, Bhawan Bharwad and Jagdish Thakore--led by leader of opposition in state assembly Arjun Modhwadia and other Congress MLAs garlanded statue of Dr Ambedkar, architect of the Indian Constitution.
Mr Modhwadia said the decision of expulsion of the MLAs was ''unconstitutional and amounted to murdering the spirit of Indian Constitution and democracy by the BJP Government led by Chief Minister Narendra Modi''.
Describing their sit-in meeting as 'Condolence Meeting', Mr Modhwadia alleged that the entire suspension episode was a well planned conspiracy of the Modi Government to suppress the voice of dissent of the Congress by instilling fear of suspension in all party MLAs, if they raised their voice on any issue.
