Dehradun, Mar 2 (UNI) Uttarakhand Governor Sudarshan Agarwal today invited Bharatiya Janata Party Legislature Party Leader Maj-Gen (retd) Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri to form the government in the state.

''I will take oath as Chief Minister after March 6,'' Mag-Gen Khanduri told reporters here. He confirmed that Rajendra Singh Bhandari, an Independent, has extended support to his party to fill shortcoming of one MLA required to form the government. '' The Governor has given me the deadline of March 20 to prove majority,'' he said.

He said bringing back the government machinery to its track would be his first priority. '' The other priorities ,'' he said, ''will be to ensure that there is no misuse of government funds and corruption free governance.'' He added that the state was already under the debt of Rs 16,000 crore and has to pay Rs 1000 crore just as interest.

He maintained that the curbing of corruption and misuse of funds would ensure better financial condition of the state. When asked if his government would mull over reverting the state's name to Uttaranchal, Maj-Gen Khanduri said BJP had never opposed Uttarakhand name for the state.
