Srinagar, Mar 2 (UNI) The National Conference (NC), the main opposition party in Jammu and Kashmir, suffered a setback when a senior leader and former MLA resigned from the primary membership of the party today.

Rafi Ahmad Mir in a letter to the NC president Omar Abdullah said that he was resigning as he was feeling suffocated in the party.

He said the party leadership has ignored the workers at the grass root level.

Mr Mir, who lost to former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed from Pahalgam constituency in the byelections, said that the NC was also not clear about the withrawal of troops and the repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
