Congress spokesman points out R R Patil's five 'mistakes'

Mumbai, Mar 2 (UNI) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) spokesman Hussain Dalvai today blamed Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil for creating a rift between the coalition partners ahead of local body elections and pointed out five mistakes he had committed.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Dalvai said Mr Patil, the NCP leader, should not blame the Congress entirely for the closure of Dabhol power project, as he was then the power minister and the decision to close the power project was taken unanimously by the state cabinet.

He requested Mr Patil, who also holds the Home portfolio, to look after only his department, saying he has committed many mistakes during his tenure.

Questioning the suspension of Sudhakar Poojary, Mr Dalvai said the police officer who had investigated the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) scam was suspended for not seeking permission of the authorities before proceeding on leave and asked why Fatesingh Patil, a Police officer from Nanded , who had given the 'wrong' information about two blasts, was not suspended.

Besides, these two cases, the MPCC spokesman said delay of 40 days by Me Patil in visiting Khairlanji after four murders and not taking any action against Pradip Sharma and Sachin Vaze, the two police officers in Khwaja Yunus death case, and also having a police station in front of a mosque at Bhiwandi, in neighbouring Thane district, were wrong steps by Mr Patil.

The issue of constructing the police station had created quite a storm in Bhiwandi and two cops were lynched to death by an irate mob.
