Chatterjee agonised over repeated distruptions of Lok Sabha
New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today expressed ''great agony'' over the repeated disruption of the Lok Sabha proceedings.
''I express my great agony.... The House is not functioning day after day.... I appeal to all to allow the House to function,'' he said, before adjourning the Lok Sabha till Tuesday as the SP members disrupted the proceedings over the Mulayam Singh Yadav issue.
Earlier when all the members agreed to a holiday on Monday on account of Holi, the Speaker announced the cancellation of the sitting on March 5 but expressed his personal disapproval.
''Actually, I am not a willing partner,'' he said.
And when he was greeted with ''Holi Mubaarak (Happy Holi)'', he retorted: ''Kaam Hone Se Mubaarak Hooga (It would be welcomed only when the House is allowed to function)''.
The Lok Sabha, which began its Budget Session on February 23, saw continuous disruptions in the past few days by the BJP-led Opposition over the Quattrocchi issue.
