CB-CID yet to crack 'missing' gold coins case

Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 2 (UNI) The CB-CID is yet to crack the sensational case involving the disappearance of Rs 50 lakh worth gold coins despite the passage of three months.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer A P V N Sharma told UNI here today the case was handed over to the State Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) three months ago and investigations were continuing.

The daring crime came to light when as many as 300 gold coins went missing about three months ago. In December last, the police arrested a temple official.

Shroff Venkatachalapathi was arrested after he was found to have manipulated records since 2002. They also recovered four coins from his possession.

The decision to handover the case to the CB-CID was taken after the authorities came in for stinging attack from various political parties.
