BJP not to have any tie-up with other parties in UP: Venkaiah

Vijayawada, Mar 2 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former National President M Venkaiah Naidu today said his party will not have any tie-up with other parties in the ensuing Uttar Pradesh elections in April-May.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Naidu said the BJP would highlight the issues of corruption, vote bank politics and price rise in the country during its campaigning.

He said the party would also bring to light the 'mad competition' between the SP, BSP and Congress in the state who were not actually working for the people's welfare.

Mr Naidu, who was the incharge of the UP elections said he will tour the entire state from March 5.

The national political scenario was fast changing in the country, he claimed and added in the recent results in local body elections in UP the BJP won nine Corporations out of 12 and the Shiv Sena-BJP combine got four Corporations in Maharashtra.

The BJP was moving ''upwards'' and the Congress going ''downwards'', he claimed.

Though, there was a rise in inflation, the government had not taken concrete steps to contain it, he alleged.

He said the BJP which contested 24 seats in Punjab assembly elections won 19 and secured a majority in Uttarakhand.

The Congress party, instead of sitting in the Opposition, after it failed to secure majority in the assembly was making all efforts to get a majority through the 'back door', he alleged.

On the elections to Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, he said the candidates from graduates constituencies will fare better in the election.
