Gurgaon, Mar 2 (UNI) In what could pave the way for smooth traffic flow between Delhi and Gurgaon, two flyovers on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, at IFFCO Crossing and South City junction on NH-8, were today opened to traffic by Union Minister T R Baalu and Haryana Chief Minister B S Hooda.

The opening of these flyovers on NH-8 completes the last leg of flyovers in the Gurgaon section of the Expressway.

With this, the entire stretch between Mahipalpur to Rajeev Chowk is now open to traffic.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Baalu said that completion of the only remaining flyover at RTR-Palam intersection was also being expedited and the flyover was targeted for completion by September this year.

Following the opening of these two flyovers, the stretch between Km 15.000 to Km 34.000 of NH-8 in Gurgaon would provide smooth ride to commuters. It will now take approximately 15 minutes only to cover this stretch as compared to the earlier 45 minutes of bumper-to-bumper traffic.

The Minister said that the movement of traffic through IFFCO and South City would immensely benefit more than 1,00,000 inhabitants on either side of this stretch in Gurgaon and provide great relief to the people travelling through M.G. Road.

The opening of IFFCO (length-1383 m) and South City (length-785 m) flyovers comes after the opening of Udyog Vihar and Mahipalpur flyovers on February 6. The entire project, from Rao Tula Ram Marg Junction till Km 42 in Haryana, is likely to be completed by September.
