ACP Patel of Surat division commits sucide

Surat, Mar 2 (UNI) An Assistant Police Commissioner (ACP) B I Patel, of Surat Division today committed suicide at his Ghod Dod Road residence, sending shock waves among the police faternity.

The 56-year-old Patel, who was shifted from Ahmedabad Police Control Room to Surat last December, as the Assistant Commissioner Police for Umra and Athwa regions, was found shot dead with his service revolver around 0900 hrs.

''It is a clear case of suicide. He committed suicide by shooting himself with a service revolver. The bullet pierced through his head and he was found in a pool of blood in his bedroom, police said.

Mr Patel's wife was on the ninth floor residence when the incident took place.

He is survived by his wife and three children.

A large number of police officers visited the Ghod Dod Road residence of Mr Patel whose death has shocked the city police.

Meanwhile, an offence has been registered by Vadodara police in this connection, Addditional Commissioner Police Range-2, Vikas Sahay told UNI
