3 UK citizens arrested for withdrawing cash on fake cards

Ahmedabad, Mar 2 (UNI) The Gujarat Police today arrested three British citizens from Western Ahmedabad for withdrawing cash from ATMs on fake international credit cards.

Senior police official Abhay Chudasama told UNI ''All those arrested are in early 20s and students in the United Kingdom.

While one of them is a Britisher, the second is of Bangladesh origin and the third one is from Gujarat.'' All of them were holding British passports and reached the city on tourist visa directly from London. They have withdrawn huge cash from the ATMs of three Banks-- the Centurion Bank, HSBC Bank and the Bank of Punjab, he said.

They were arrested from hotel Pride, where they had checked in on February 25. Around 115 fake international credit cards and an amount of Rs 2.90 lakh were also seized from them, he added.

Details of actual value withdrawn will be known only after the banks will tally the amount. All the amount have been drawn through the ATMs from Indian Banks accounts based overseas, including the UK, he said.

Mr Chudasama said they had planned to leave the city on Sunday, after withdrawing more cash from other ATMs.
