Strong wave in Delhi in favour of BJP: Shatrughan Sinha

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) Firebrand BJP leader and former Union Minister Shatrughan Sinha today said the recent wins in Uttarakhand and Punjab pointed to a strong "pro-BJP" wave in the country which would in the coming days dislodge the Congress from power in the coming polls for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Expressing confidence that the wave in favour of the BJP in Uttarakhand, Punjab and Maharashtra would also translate in the party's triumph in the Municipal polls in Delhi, Mr Sinha, addressing a gathering of Poorvanchalis settled in Delhi, said,''today I see a strong wave in Delhi in favour of the BJP which clearly points to a win for the party in the coming municipal polls.'' ''The winds of change will first dislodge the Congress from the MCD, and thereafter also from the Delhi Legislative Assembly and, finally, from the Lok Sabha,''the actor-turned-politician said in his familiar baritone that has, over the years, earned him a huge fan following.

Referring to the loss for the Congress in the Uttarakhand and Punjab state assemblies, he said,''this is only the beginning of the end of the Congress rule''.

Slamming the Congress Governments in Delhi and at the Centre of failing to rein in the sky-rocketing prices of daily commodities as well as petrol and diesel, Mr Sinha said, ''the latest example of the Government's failure to check prices is the absence of any provision in the 2007-08 Union Budget to rein in the inflation.'' Terming the Union Budget proposals as ''the last nail in the coffin of the UPA'', Mr Sinha said,''we could well see the dislodging of UPA from power before the expiry of its five year term in 2009.'' Mr Sinha said the coming Municipal polls ought not be seen as an "ordinary" election.

''This is not an ordinary poll as its outcome will serve as a barometer of public opinion in the country,''he said and expressed optimism that the polls would cuminate in a win for the BJP, thus giving people of Delhi freedom from the "anti-people" policies of the state Government.
