Stray dogs devour 4-year-old boy to death
Bangalore, Mar 1 (UNI) In a shocking incident, stray dogs devoured a four-year-old boy to death in a city locality, triggering protests by the people against the increasing menace of stray dogs and ''inaction'' by the Corporation authorities.
Police said the incident happened in BEML layout last evening when the boy, identified as Manjunath, was playing hide-and-seek with his friends.
Eyewitness reports said stray dogs, numbering nearly 15, attacked him all over, including his throat, which resulted in loss of blood.
The boy died while being taken to a hospital.
This was the second such incident in the city recently, after a similar tragedy involving a six-year-old girl in Chandra Layout.
Health and Family Welfare Minister R Ashok hurriedly announced a compensation of Rs one lakh to the parents of the child.
The Bangalore City Corporation had convened a meeting of officials to chalk out ways and means to check the stray dog menace.
