Rs 440 cr Central aid for court modernisation: Minister
Coimbatore, Mar 1 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Law and Justice K Venkatapathy today said the Centre had allocated Rs 440 crore for modernisation of sub-ordinate courts in the country.
Talking to newspersons here, he said under the modernisation programme all courts would be computerised to keep track of the progress of cases.
He said computerisation would be done in a phased manner and efforts would be taken to dispose the cases fast.
On 'Plea Bargaining System', which was recently introduced, he said the system had not reached the masses.
Under the new system, the accused would confess his offence and pray before the Judge, who would consider granting mercy and reduce the quantum of punishment.
Stating that the government would make all efforts to popularise the system, he called upon the advocates to promote it.
