Resolve Kashmir for peace in South-Asia: Jamaat-e-Islami

Srinagar, Mar 1 (UNI) The Majlis Shoura-- the highest decision making body-- of the Jamaat-e-Islami today said that no lasting peace was possible in South-Asia without resolution of the Kashmir issue.

JeI spokesman Zahid Ali said, after the day-long joint meeting of Shoura and general body members, that resolution of the Kashmir was necessary for lasting peace in the region.

He said JeI was in favour of implementing the United Nations resolution on Kashmir. However, he said, tripartite talks between all the three parties concerned---India, Pakistan and people of the state-- would also help to find a durable solution to the issue.

He said members expressed concern over the alleged Human Rights violations by the security forces and demanded stern action against the Special Operation Group (SOG) personnel involved in the fake encounter killings.

The Shoura members also appealed people to launch a joint war against immorality and other sins in the valley.
