Nitish says opposition misguiding people

Patna, Mar 1 (UNI) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the state government had succeeded in combating crime, whereas, the opposition was misleading the people on the issue.

He said the opposition RJD had released misleading figures on crime soon after one year completion of the NDA government.

As per the RJD, total number of murder committed in 2006 was 23802, while the official figure was only 3630, he said adding that even national crime record bureau had put the figure at 3225.

''The opposition was trying to disturb the communal harmony in the state for their own vested interests, but state government would not allow those forces to succeed,'' he averred.

Mr Kumar said the plan size of the state for the year 2006-07 was Rs 8,250 crore while the State government was expected to spend Rs 8,600 crore till the end of the current fiscal.

''Bihar government would also succeed in spending Rs 10,200 crore as required under the plan size fixed for the fiscal 2007-08, ''he added.

Mr Kumar said Asian Development Bank, World Bank and other financial institutions were ready to extend financial aid to the state government for accelerating the pace of development.

All opposition parties barring the Samajwadi Party staged line walkout from the house over the irregularities in the Below Poverty List.
