KTD Singh appointed as new DGP in Tripura
Agartala, Mar 1 (UNI) In a sudden development, the Left Front government has appointed IPS officer KTD Singh as the Director General of Police (DGP) in Tripura, replacing G M Srivastava who is set to join Asom police on March 2.
The decision was taken after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) yesterday declined to grant Mr Singh further extension. Official sources said the state government, keeping in mind the coming assembly elections, had recently urged the Ministry to give him another term in the department. However, the MHA has clearly asked the state government to relieve him by March 1 so that he can join Asom police.
Mr Srivastava had joined Tripura police as the DGP on September 2, 2003. On the state governments request his term was extended till March 11, 2006. He was granted another extension till 31 March, 2007, following the present state governments request.
