Judge arrested for embezzling funds; remanded to judicial custody

Mysore, Mar 1 (UNI) Suspended Principal sessions judge Sayed Ameen Ali was arrested and remanded to judicial custody till March 14 in a case relating to misappropriation of court funds.

Judge Ali was produced before first additional principal civil Judge Sangareshi at his residence last night and remanded to judicial custody for a day. On expiry of custody today, Judge Sangareshi held video conferencing with Judge Ali, lodged at the central prison in the city, and extended the remand.

A case was filed by the court against, Judge Ali, the court Accounts Clerk and a nationalised bank manager in 2002 and 2003 for misappropriation of court funds deposited by the clients. Following this, the trio was suspended.
