HMCTAN to develop manpower for Kashmir tourism industry
Srinagar, Mar 1 (UNI) To develop manpower in the field of Hotel Management and Hospitality sector for the rapidly growing Tourism Industry, the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (HMCTAN) here offers 3-year degree course programme in different fields.
These include Hotel Management and allied hospitality industry, Guest and Customer Relation Executive in Hotel and other Service sectors, Kitchen Management and House keeping Management Trainee in hotels, Executive in Fast Food Chains, Faculty in Hotel Management and Food craft institutions. Besides, it also offers Executive in Hospital and Institutional Catering, Cabin Crew in National and International Airlines, Catering Officer or Chefs in Cruise-lines, Executive in State Tourism Development Corporations and Resort properties, Marketing and Sales Executives in hotels, Self Employment opportunities and flight kitchens also offer opportunities for career building.
The Institute of HMCTAN, Srinagar is an autonomous body funded by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
Affiliated with National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, the institute was established in 1982, aimed to imparting training and developing manpower in the field of Hotel Management and Hospitality sector.
Presently, the institute is running at Boulevard near Nehru Park on the bank of famed Dal Lake. The new institute building has been constructed at Raj Bagh at a cost of Rs 10 crore.
The 3 year programme equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality sector.
The programme also involves in depth laboratory work for students to acquire required knowledge and skills and standards.
The Institute is enhancing its intake capacity from the ensuing academic year 2007-08, for which the admission process is going on right now. The last date to apply for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is March 5, 2007.
The candidates who qualify in JEE would be called for counseling and allotment of seats in any of the 26 institutes in the country on the basis of merit.
