Haryana to allow open sale of Khair trees
Chandigarh, Mar 1 (UNI) Fulfilling the long pending demand of Khair trees growers, the Haryana government has decided to permit them to sell their trees in the open market.
Minister of State for Forests Kiran Choudhry today said the Khair trees growers would no longer be required to sell their produce through the Haryana Forest Department to agencies recognised by the government.
Mr Choudhry said an amendment would soon be made in the relevant notification issued in the 1997.
It was a persistent demand of the farmers to give them the permission to sell their trees at their own level to any individual or agency so that they could get remunerative price she added.
The Forest Minister said representatives of farmers met her several times for the cutting of their Khair trees for this purpose.
Finding their demand to be genuine, she consulted Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda who immediately conceded it, she added.
