Estate Employees Association volunteers arrested

Puducherry, Mar 1 (UNI) About 52 volunteers of the Industrial Estate Employees Association, affiliated to the CITU, were arrested today when they tried to picket the labour office here to press their demands.

Their demands included immediate transfer of the Labour Mediatory Officer, alleging that he was an 'anti-labourer' taking unilateral decisions which would benifit the industry owners.

Meanwhile, Members of the Puducherry State Electricity Department Employees Union observed a fast infront of the head office demanding appointments on compassionate grounds, for evolving proper transfer policies in the department and adoption of reservation in promotions.
