Care India Honoured For Helping Dropouts
New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) CARE India has been honoured with the Commonwealth Education Good Practice Award in recognition of its initiatives for dropouts and for never-enrolled-girls, it was officially stated today.
The Award was handed over yesterday by Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandareswari to Girls Education Programme Director Kokila Gulati, the statement said.
Ms Gulati was accompanied by CARE Country Director Marge Tsitouris, Technical Support-Education F A Jami and Communications Officer Amelia Andrews.
Purandareswari received the Award on CARE India's behalf at the 16th Commonwealth Education Ministers Conference in Cape Town, South Africa to which she led the Indian delegation in December 2006.
The humanitarian group was among nine finalists from seven Commonwealth nations and the only finalist from the Asian region picked by a Pan Commonwealth jury.
