Big air show at Sangam on Mar 11
Allahabad, Mar 1 (UNI) As part of the platinum jubilee celebrations of Indian Air Force (IAF), a mega air show has been planned by Central Air Command (CAC) here on March 11.
Talking to newsmen here today, Central Air Command AOC-in-C Air Marshal P V Naik, said to make the air show historical and memorable, it would be displayed at Sangam -- the revered confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Sarswati rivers.
Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar will also be present the occasion.
Air Marshal Naik said the aim was to showcase the IAF capabilities and professionalism, besides generating interest in the country's youth about the Force.
Around three lakh people were expected to witness the show, with 31 aircraft participating in the 50-minute event.
The main attraction will be the fly pasts by various aircraft in the CAC inventory, followed by the world famous Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT).
People will witness MI-8 choppers, the veteran Canberras, IL-76 with two AN-32s in ''Big Boy'' formation, air-to-air refueller (one IL-78 refueller doing mid-air refueling of two Mirages), live emonstration of a rescue operation by Chetak helicopter, Jaguars and Mirage 2000 aircraft.
