Bandh disrupts life in Arunachal's capital
Itanagar, Mar 1 (UNI) Life came to standstill here today following a 10 hour 'Capital Complex' bandh called by the Papum Pare District Youth Welfare Society (PPDYWS).
The bandh, which began at 0600 hours, was by and large peaceful barring stray incidents of stone pelting.
The bandh was total as all the business establishments down their shutters, while bank post office and other commercial organisations remained closed.
All sorts of private and public transport remained off the road, while a few state transport buses were seen plying with security.
However, students appearing in the class XII CBSE examination beginning today were exempted from the purview of the bandh.
The PPDYWS had called the bandh demanding the state government to drop PWD and Urban Development Minister Nabam Tuki to give way to impartial and speedy judicial enquiry through CBI based on a PIL filed at Gauhati High Court for his alleged involvement in misappropriation of public money to the tune of crores.
