8 killed in land mine blast in Chhattisgarh

Jagdalpur, Mar 1 (UNI) Eight people, including four jawans of the Nagaland Armed Force, were killed on the spot when a truck in which they were travelling hit a landmine laid by the naxalites near Darbaguda on Jagdalpur-Hyderabad road in tribal Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.

Bastar Range Inspector General of Police R K Vij told UNI that four constables of the NAF, accompanied by two Special Police Officers(SPO), were returning after patrolling duty. They boarded a truck which was on its way to Darbhaguda.

The truck hit a landmine around 0830 hours and all occupants, including the driver and cleaner, were killed on the spot.

Mr Vij said security forces had been despatched to the spot to carry out combing operations in the nearby forests.
