Oppn Parties walk out on MSP to farm products
Hyderabad, Feb 28 (UNI) Opposition parties comprising TDP, TRS, CPI(M), CPI, BJP and CPI(ML- New Democracy) today staged a walkout in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, protesting against the government's ''lackadaisical attitude in getting Minimum Support Price (MSP) for agricultural products and its failure to ensure that farmers got remunerative prices''.
After an unprecedented six-hour debate on a single question, the opposition members, not satisfied with the reply of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Agriculture Minister Raghuveera Reddy and Marketing Minister Botsa Satyanarayana, walked out of the House.
The House could not take up the sixth and last day's discussion on the budget for 2007-08 due to the debate on the issue despite the decision taken at the floor leaders' meeting earlier that only six minutes will be allotted to each question as the assembly had already lost one hour after being adjourned twice.
The Speaker abruptly adjourned the House till tomorrow.
During the six-hour discussion, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu levelled charges against each other.
