Kumaraswamy asks ryots to wait for 3 more months

Gadag, Karnataka, Feb 28 (UNI) Asserting that the Karnataka Government is committed to waive off farm loans taken from cooperative banks, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today appealed to the farmers to have patience for another three to four months.

Speaking after inaugurating several development works at Shirahatti town in this district, he asked ''when the Government can write off loans worth crores of Rupees of big industrialists, what is wrong if farmers' loans are waived off to stop them from committing suicides.'' Earlier, talking to newspersons at the helipad, Mr Kumaraswamy said the Government would finalise its stand on the Cauvery issue soon. The matter had been dicussed at an all-party meeting in Bangalore.

He said he would consider staying in villages during day time, instead of night halts as practiced now.

The JD(S) leader dismissed as rumours, the Congressmen making a hue and cry about party President H D Deve Gowda meeting Congress President Sonia Gandhi after the just-concluded Assembly elections in three States, allegedly to keep the BJP out of power. UNI
