Keonjhar bandh to protest attack on Congress MLA
Bhubaneswar, Feb 28 (UNI) A dawn to dusk bandh was observed in Keonjhar district of Orissa today to protest the attack on Congress MLA from Champua Dhanurjaya Sidhu near Badbil on Monday night.
The bandh, called by the Congress, paralysed normal life in some places in the district but no untoward incidents were reported. The Congress had also observed ''Badbil bandh'' yesterday.
Mr Sidhu was returning home when two motor cycle borne miscreants opened fire at his vehicle. The MLA received three bullet shots and was shifted to the TISCO hospital at Joda where the doctors operated upon him and removed the bullets from his body.
Next day he was flown to Cuttack and admitted into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the S C B Medical College and Hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.
Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who visited the SCB Medical College and Hospital today to see the MLA, ordered a crime branch inquiry into the incident.
But the Orissa Congress has rejected the inquiry and demanded a CBI inquiry. The Keonjhar police have yet to nab the miscreants involved in the attack on the MLA.
