Islamic principles of life can cleanse politics: scholars

Lucknow, Feb 28 (UNI) The Islamic principles of life, including honesty, can help the Indian polity, Islamic scholars said today.

Addressing a seminar on the 'importance of Islamic principles in politics' here, Islamic scholar and editor of SAhara Urdu Dr Aziz Burni said while Muslims will have to follow the principles of Islam, they would also have to make others follow the path of humanity and honesty to bring about a change in today's politics.

Addressing the gathering Nationalist Communist Party president Shaista Amber said after Independence political parties have been formed on the basis of caste and religion, which has only encouraged corruption. ''Without fighting corruption, we cannot bring a change in our lives,'' she added.
