4 institutions connected with Mahatma Gandhiji's work to get Rs 30cr
New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) Finance Minister P Chidambaram today proposed Rs 30 crore for four institutions, as they continue the work of Gandhiji and other constructive work while the nation celebrates the 150th year of the First War of Independence and the Centenary year of Satyagraha movement.
The four institutions were Sabarmati Ashram at Ahmedabad Sewagram Ashram at Wardha, Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute at Pune and Rajendra Samriti Sanghrahalaya at Patna.
Mr Chidambaram also provided Rs 20 crore to reposition the Nehru memorial museum and Library, Delhi as a major centre of intellectual activity.
He also proposed to make an initial grant of Rs 5 crore to the Ministry of Culture for engaging scholars from Indian and Forein Institutions to work on specific projects.
In recognition of their excellence, the minister also proposed a special grant of Rs 50 crore each to the Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and technology, Pant Nagar and the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore.
