Vijay Bahuguna wins Tehri-Garhwal parliamentary seat

Dehra Dun, Feb 27 (UNI) Congress' Vijay Bahuguna today won the Tehri-Garhwal parliamentary constituency seat defeating BJP's Manujendra Shah.

The seat proved third time lucky for Mr Bahuguna, son of the redoubtable hill leader and former UP CM, the late Hemwati Nandan Bahaguna, who had contested from here unsuccessfully in the last two elections.

BJP candidate Manujendra Shah, the son of incumbent MP Manavendra Shah, whose death on January 5 necessitated the bypoll, could not replicate his father's magic. Mr Manavendra Shah won the seat eight times consecutively.
