Results a mandate against ''total failure'' of Centre : BJP

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) The BJP today described the party's win in the Assembly elections in Punjab and Uttarakhand as a ''decisive vote'' against the ''total failure'' of the Central and state governments.

After a detailed analysis of the results, the BJP has arrived at the conclusion that it was a vote against the total failure of the governments of these states as well as the Centre. ''They were unable to infuse confidence among the people through good governance and protect the common man from price rise and inflation,'' BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley said while briefing newspersons after a meeting of BJP Parliamentary Board.

It was not just these two states the Congress had lost, the downfall of the party had started in the local body elections in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra where the BJP had gained strength.

He said both Uttarakhand and Punjab governments had earned the image of being ''corrupt'' and in Punjab, the regime was not only corrupt but was ''arrogant'' and hence failed to win the minds of the people, Mr Jaitley added.
