MTNL pays Rs 106 cr dividend to govt
New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) State-owned MTNL today gave a cheque of Rs 106 crore to the government as an interim dividend for 2006-07 on a paid-up equity capital of Rs 630 crore .
''Our profits have went up to Rs 432 crore. The mobile revenues is up to Rs 599 crore from Rs 399 crore and the broadband revenues has witnessed a significant rise to Rs 140 crore from Rs 35 crore,'' MTNL CMD R S P Sinha told reporters.
We are expecting to add Rs 50 crore in our profits in the last quarter of the fiscal, Mr Sinha said adding that the growth trajectory will be maintained in future.
With a tele-density of 50-60 per cent in Delhi and Mumbai, the company added one million customers in both the metros during the nine months of 2006-07.
Communications and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran said that the company will take new initiatives in the broadband segment to add more customers.
He said that both BSNL and MTNL have been directed to work on 'fibre to home' and 'multiplay' tecnologies.
