Mixed bag for father-son contestants

Chandigarh, Feb 27 (UNI) It was a mixed bag for three pairs of father-sons who contested the Punjab assembly elections from different constituencies.

Former Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) candidate Capt Kanwaljit Singh won from Banur constituency while his son Jasjit Singh (SAD) lost the Kharar seat. While it was third consecutive win for Capt Kanwaljit Singh, his son contested the polls for the first time.

For SAD (Amritsar) chief Simranjit Singh Mann and his son Imaan Singh, it was a double defeat. While veteran Simranjit Mann lost the Dhanaula seat, his son was defeated from Sirhand constituency.

The luckiest father-son pair was Swarna Singh (BJP) and his son Mohan Lal (SAD) who were both elected from Phagwara (reserved) and Banga (reserved) constituencies respectively.
