Mercury rises to 28 Deg C, rain likely in next few days

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Continuing the rising trend since yesterday, the mercury in the capital today rose to 28 degrees Celsius, even as a wet and chilly weather has been forecast in the Capital in the next few days.

The maximum temperature today rose to 28 Degrees C, two degrees above normal, even though the minimum dropped to 12.7 Degrees C.

Despite a rise in mercury in Delhi, the weather office have forecast a wet and chilly spell in the capital in the next few days under the influence of a fresh Western disturbance.

''Under the influence of the western disturbance, scattered rain and snowfall has occurred over the Western Himalayan region during the last 24 hours. The current meteorological analysis suggests that widespread precipitation is likely over the western Himalayan region during the next 2 days. Scattered rain and thundershowers are also likely over plains of Northwest India and Rajasthan during the same period,'' the weather office said.

Isolated hailstorm and squall is also likely over North West Indian plains, including Delhi, during the next two days.

Weathermen have forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours which is likely to become partly cloudy with possibility of rain and thundershowers tonight or tomorrow, which could be accompanied by hailstorms or thundersqualls.

They have also forecast a rise in minimum temperature to 15 Degrees C tomorrow.
