Lok Sabha adjourned till 1200hrs on Quattrocchi issue

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) The Lok Sabha was today adjourned till 1200 hours as the opposition disrupted the proceedings and pressed for a statement from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Italian fugitive Ottavio Quattrocchi, accused in the Bofors kickbacks case.

As soon as the House assembled to take up the Question Hour, the BJP-led Opposition and Samajwadi Party members got up and ignored the Speaker's commitment that the Government will make the statement at 1200 hrs and the House should be allowed to take up its normal proceedings.

Observing that the opposition was adamant on its demand, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee adjourned the House within two to three minutes of its meeting.

However, the opposition members were heard shouting ''Where is Quattrocchi...bring him back.'' Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi said he will make the statement on Quattrocchi as per the announcement by the Speaker in the House.
