CPI-M held a rally here to protest against the soaring price hike

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) organised a rally against the Central Government's failure to check the soaring price rise in essential commodities here today.

According to a party release here today, four of its party workers were been injured due to police excesses against the demonstrators. Three of the injured were hospitalised and hundreds of CPI(M) activitists courted arrest as part of their protest.

Earlier, party's polit bureau and Rajya Sabha member Sitaram Yechuri criticism the Government for its total failure to take effective measures like curbing futures trading in food grains and other essential commodities and revising the tax structure for petroleum products and streagthening the public distribution system in order to check the price rise.

The rally was also addressed by party leader Ms Brinda karat, Hannan Mollah, Tapan Sen, Prashant Chatterjee, Jyotirmoyee Sikdar, Ms M Sarkar, Tarini Roy and Suman Pathak.
